VIBRATION ANALYSIS application example

Measurement of the Eigen frequency of a tuning fork

The vibration of a tuning fork is measured with the fast RTSS system. The fast RTSS system achieves a measurement rate of 1500Hz and can therefore resolve motion frequencies of up to 500Hz.
The tuning fork is marked with a line sticker and the RTSS system measures the displacement of the marker with sub micrometer resolution.

The images show the upper part of the tuning fork, the measured displacement and the fourier transformation. The Eigen frequency is measured as 439,48Hz and fits to the tone A (440Hz).

This application example in the fielld of vibration analysis shows the camera-based measurement of the natural frequency. In contrast to an acceleration sensor, the surface marking is almost massless and therefore does not change the Eigen frequency.
