Plant growth measurement

The Q400 DIC system is used for contactless growth measurement of plant leafs over a period of several weeks. The image shows the strain field after 30 days of growth. The growth (=strain) is locally variating.

The video shows the 30 day measurement during which the leaf position changes. The stereo camera system also measures the 3D movement and the 3D shape of the leaf. The Q400 DIC can separate deformation & strain from the rigid body movements  The quantitative and spatial resolved strain (=growth) is visualized as a color map. The video shows the growth measure (=strain E1) of a selected point.
