Completeness test of attachments by 3D scan of a train carriage

Hundreads of components are attached to every individual train carriage body. How can be ensured, that these are mounted and at the correct position ?
The completeness test of components can be carried out by using a precise laser scanner Surphaser model 100HSX-SR. The approx. 20m long carriage (glossy stainless steel) is digitized within one hour with a few scans and without surface preparation. The automatic comparison (Polyworks) of the high resolution and sub millimeter precise scan data with the CAD data detects missing or incorrectly positioned components.
